Description

Secrepat 50 Mint Flavor Chewable Tablets

- Association of non-absorbable antacids, aluminium, calcium and magnesium derivatives. They work by neutralizing hydrochloric acid in the stomach, increasing gastric pH, which also reduces the formation and activity of pepsin. Also, adsorb the formed pepsin. Aluminum ions relax the gastric musculature and delay emptying the stomach, prolonging the duration of the antacid effect. Its astringent action could lead to an "in situ" release of prostaglandins.

SPECIAL WARNINGS

- Long-term high dose administration may produce undesirable effects such as hypercalcemia, hypermagnesemia and metabolic alkalosis, especially in patients with renal impairment.

PATIENT ADVICE

- Avoid prolonged use. It should not be taken for more than 2 weeks except criterion.- The tablets should be chewed before swallowing.- Envelopes: Press the envelope several times before opening it. It can be taken directly from the envelope or dissolved in a little water (avoid milk). - Do not take more than 4 sa envelopes per day or 8 tablets per day.- It is advised to quickly report symptoms such as feeling of loss of appetite, weakness or unwarranted general discomfort, as well as the appearance of any symptoms that may indicate bleeding (e.g. black stool).

Concomitant use is not recommended.- Eltrombopag: possible reduction of eltrombopag absorption by formation of insoluble chelates with multipurpose cations. Administer eltrombopag at least 4 h before or after this medicine.- Erlotinib: possible reduction of erlotinib levels, by reducing its absorption. Antacids increase gastric pH, which could decrease the solubility of erlotinib, its absorption and its therapeutic effects. It is recommended to administer at least 4 h before or 2 h after the daily dose of antineoplastic.- Salicylates: antacids may increase renal excretion of salicylates.- Sucralfate: antacids may reduce the effect of sucralfate. Magnesium buildup and hypermagnesemia may also occur. [GASTROINTESTINAL HEMORRAGIA]. [HIPOFOSFATEMIA]. Due to the aluminium content of this medicine, a decrease in phosphate absorption may occur, with a risk of hypophosphatemia with anorexia, general discomfort and muscle weakness, appearing mainly in patients on a diet poor in phosphates, diarrhoea, malabsorption or renal transplantation. Bimonthly determinations of serum phosphate levels are recommended, especially in patients undergoing haemodialysis. [HYPERMAGNESEMIA]. In case of prolonged administration of this medicine, a buildup of magnesium may occur.
