Fenivir contains penciclovir and belongs to the group of medicines called antivirals that slow the multiplication of viruses, such as the one that causes cold sores.
This virus may remain dormant for long periods of time, but when activated, it begins to multiply and then the injury develops. This occurs, for example, when defenses are decreased, when a cold or flu occurs, or in cases where it has remained in strong sunlight.
The virus causes painful blisters on the lips. Fenivir is indicated for the treatment of heating (cold sores).
Applying Fenivir decreases the duration of cold sore pain and accelerates its healing. In addition, the period in which herpes is contagious also decreases, although applying Fenivir does not prevent you from spreading it to someone else. You should see a doctor if it gets worse or if it doesn't get better after 4 days
